Dead Kennedys rock the Electric Ballroom with Aston mics

Category : Events

Hardcore punk pioneers Dead Kennedys have been unleashing their high-decibel mayhem on UK audiences this month with a tour of the major cities. The USA rockers played a sell-out show at London’s Electric Ballroom – with a pair of the venue’s Aston Origins on duty over D.H.Peligro’s drum kit.

The Origin and Spirit large diaphragm condenser mics are finding increasing favour with live engineers, and venues, who have notoriously loud bands to deal with. The mics’ ability to deal with high sound pressure levels, combined with their stunning sound quality and refusal to go wrong - even under severe abuse - is making them a common sight on the stages of the most raucous gigs.

The Electric Ballroom celebrated its 80th anniversary last year, a landmark commemorated with a custom engraved Aston Origin which now resides at the iconic Camden Town venue. The Clash, Led Zepplin, U2 and Prince are amongst the many legendary artists to have played the 2000 seater.

The Dead Kennedys reached their own milestone this year celebrating forty years since their formation in San Fransisco. The occasion has been marked with the release of the ‘DK40’ triple disc box set featuring three famous live performances; Paradiso in Amsterdam 1982, Alabama Halle in Munich 1982 and The Farm in San Francisco 1985, with the classic line up fronted by singer Jello Biafra.

This year the current line-up played five UK dates before heading off to Italy and Spain to continue the tour.
