Nothing But Thieves announce first post-lockdown live shows

Category : Artists

Remember gigs? Back in the days before facemasks, when you could go within 2 metres of other people and see bands without being able to pause them? Well the great news is that all those fantastic musicians we used to go and see in real life are emerging from lockdown hibernation and announcing their long awaited live dates.

It’s been a tough time for most people, and that includes musicians previously reliant on live performance for their livelihoods, who have had to adapt and use their creativity to the full during these strange days. We’ve watched bands perform ‘live’ online with the members in different countries, been invited into stars’ living rooms and bedrooms, while Youtube channels and social media live streams have become even more a way of life. But nothing beats the real thing.

Aston favourites Nothing But Thieves are one of the first acts to dust down the amps and load them into the tourmobile. The band will be gigging extensively through the rest of 2021, starting with a string of UK dates followed by a comprehensive European tour which includes dates in Scandinavia and Russia. The Southend rock outfit have just released Moral Panic II, a five track EP to accompany their 2020 album, Moral Panic, which reached no.3 in the UK album charts.

The band have used Aston Stealth, Origin, Spirit and Starlight microphones on their recordings and founder member, guitarist and Aston artist Dom Craik told us how he first encountered the boutique UK brand:

“I was starting to see Aston microphones everywhere; on Instagram and seeing them in mag reviews. I’ve got mates who live in the middle of Arizona using them. I’m thinking ‘wow these microphones are everywhere, there must be a reason - it’s pretty much a sign!”

The band managed to keep the music going through lockdown, although this was not without its challenges including, at one point, Dom having to mix the band’s drums from recordings made on iphones!

“Obviously releasing music during lockdown was really odd. We had a load of content planned, we were meant to be going to Russia, Finland, Ukraine and Minsk and it was all canned. All the plans for shooting content around the single had to go on hold. We’ve had to get a bit more creative about it…”

We’re sure Dom and the rest of Nothing But Thieves will be looking forward to picking up where they left off, as one of the UK’s foremost live rock acts.
