About this product

High-Performance Cardioid Condenser Microphone Utilising a 1" Gold Evaporated Capsule

Aston Origin — UK-Designed Cardioid Condenser

The Aston Origin earned its place in home, project, and professional studios across the world by doing something rare — delivering large-diaphragm condenser performance at a price that doesn't gate-keep new producers, with build quality and voicing that earn respect from engineers who already own everything. It is the mic that introduced Aston to the world, and it remains a quiet bestseller for good reason.

Capsule and Acoustic Design

A 1-inch, gold-evaporated capsule sits beneath Aston's signature wave-form mesh head — a stainless steel basket with elastic memory that physically shock-absorbs to protect the capsule from impact. The mesh also serves as the built-in pop filter, knit from stainless steel for plosive control without an extra screen. Custom UK-designed transformerless electronics keep the signal path clean, fast and open.

Sound Character

Even, present, and natural — with a gentle lift in the upper-mids that flatters voice and acoustic guitar without ever sounding hyped. The transformerless circuit keeps transient response quick, so finger-style guitar, room mics on drums, and intimate vocals all read with detail rather than smear.

Specification Highlights

In the Studio

Lead and backing vocals, acoustic guitar, piano, drum overheads, voice-over, and broadcast. The direct-to-stand mounting design keeps handling and stand-borne noise out of the signal — and the laser-etched stainless steel chassis takes a beating without showing it.
