Halo Shadow

The same superb performance as the Aston Halo reflection filter, with a new look in all black finish for those who want a more ‘moody’ space to work with. In a market awash with differing versions of an ageing design concept, the Aston HALO is a huge leap forward in reflection filter technology.

There are several key areas on which we focussed on improving currently available technology, most notably for Isolation, absorption, mounting hardware and the general performance as a studio tool for achieving portable room control.

“Halo is a designer piece, that deserves a place in an art gallery.”

“I am convinced that this is the best reflection filter in its class on the market right now.”

“Aston Halo is suitable for both home studio and more professional recording environments and feels almost ridiculously affordable considering what you get.”

“The filter not only protects from reflections laterally, but also from the floor and ceiling. The ribbed inside also controls the diffusion of sound”

“Not only is it the best-sounding microphone reflection filter I’ve ever used, it also sets a new bar for simplicity and esthetics.”

“THIS is how a refection filter should be made.”

“The most impressive quality of the Halo is its sonic neutrality”

“Halo is both surprising and pleasing.”

“In a bright room the noticeable loss of sibilant reflections is clear, making mix adjustments a lot easier.”

“Isolation-wise, the Halo lives up to the hype. You simply don’t notice room reflections as much — the focus is more on the source. Recordings made with the Halo just seemed closer — like they jump out of the speakers a little more.”

“The market has been all but dominated by sE Electronics’ Reflexion Filter, but Aston promises superior performance in nearly every regard with its purple newcomer.”

“The sonic difference in the dry test, just speaking into the filter, was tremendous.”

“There is an impressive difference between recordings with and without the Halo.”

“…Recordings with the Halo are significantly dryer, more direct, clearer and more intimate.”

Patented design, enhanced performance

HALO’s unique design is also patented… it’s much bigger, wraps around top and bottom to a maximum rear depth of almost 100mm to improve room isolation and absorption without dominating the room sound. Its textured and wave-formed surface also helps diffuse direct sound.

Market research revealed that many people have a hard time with getting a good performance when using other reflection filters because they are not very ‘creative-friendly’ environments. The HALO’s form and colour scheme is designed to create a more ‘organic-feeling’ space for the performer to work with.

The combination of radically improved performance in almost every area of currently available technology, while paying special attention to both the green credentials of our manufacturing (as with our mic packaging which is 100% recyclable and 84% recycled material), and to the creative element that the artist requires in their performance environment to get the best form every take, makes, in our opinion, the very best possible solution for portable room acoustics available today.

Hi Tech construction with patented PET felt

The HALO is made from a patented PET felt which is one of the most lightweight and efficient, technical acoustic products available on the global market today, making it ideal for use in a reflection filter.

An additional side benefit is that the acoustic felt which makes up most of the sound absorption field, is made from 70% recycled PET plastic bottle material, so this highly technical product is also very environmentally friendly.

The lightweight material design, coupled with beautifully engineered ‘easy-mount’ hardware, means the HALO is quick and easy to set up, stable on mic stands, and sounds and looks fantastic.
